Nordic Walking
'…a safe, natural, dynamic, efficient and suitable-for-all form of a physical activity that trains the body in a holistic, symmetrical and balanced way'.
- International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA)
By using specially designed poles to add 'four wheel drive' to our natural walking experience, we make something we all learn at a very young age twice as effective! At Pipsticks Walks we ensure that you receive expert tuition to help you develop the correct Nordic Walking technique and get the most benefit from this fantastic activity.
No Snow Required!
Nordic Walking can be done by anybody, anywhere. It combines the simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing.
Originating in Finland in the 1930s as a summer training exercise for Nordic skiers, Nordic Walking is now enjoyed throughout the year and around the world - no snow required!
The basic technique involves active walking with poles to propel the walker along. More advanced techniques include various running styles, skipping and skating.
For a great illustration of the technique, see this short film Nordic Walking Vidio - la tecnica di Pino Dellasega
